How did ancient Egyptian social structure work?
The very top person in ancient Egyptian social structure was the pharaoh, followed by: priests and nobles: traders, artisans, shopkeepers and scribes: farmers and herders: unskilled workers then the very bottom of ancient Egyptian social structure was servants and slaves. The pharaoh had the job of keeping the whole city/kingdom safe from invasion, starvation, bankruptcy and displeasure from the gods. No person could manage all these major jobs by themselves so the pharaoh appointed senior officials and chief lieutenants, without these people constantly helping the city/kingdom could not have been run. At the bottom of Egyptian social structure where slaves and farmers. Slaves where people that got caught in war; these people where punished by serving the rich and famous. If they didn't the fate was death! Farmers grew crops, raised animals and kept a safe supply of drinking water. Without farmers Egyptian civilization would have starved to death and wouldn't have been able to become the great people that we always think about now.
